About Fernside Healthcare
Fernside Healthcare is the management umbrella for five specialist care homes with nursing. It is owned by one family - two parents and their two sons, three of whom are doctors. The group was built up gradually starting with Westacre which was opened by the owners in the mid 1990's and the other homes were added in the ensuing years.
Ethos
The same family still own the group and this has created consistency and stability, and all the homes continue to run following the mantra of the Chairman:
"We run the homes first for the residents, second for the staff and third for the directors."
It is this ethos that has meant the owners have taken almost no money from the business that has not been directly reinvested through upgrading, extending or developing the services.
Hampshire
The family live in Hampshire and as such opened homes locally as they believe that it is essential that they and senior management are directly involved in the management of the homes. This is only possible by being within easy reach of the homes.
